HellaBombBoss CEO Chadeira Moore Presents: "How To Successfully End Your College Career On The Right Foot"

Attention Graduating Seniors,

It’s FINALLY time for us to shine! After 4 long,strenuous years of all-nighters, meeting deadlines (barely) and spending unnecessary funds on textbooks, it’s all coming to an end (unless you’re heading off to grad school, but still). Although you may want to let loose + act up because it’s your final semester, it’s imperative to finish your college career off strong. You don’t want to obtain a degree you’ve worked so hard for and not secure a full-time position after graduation. NOW is the time to secure the bag. Therefore, here’s a few tips + tricks to successfully end your college career on the right foot:

  1. Start Applying Now. An obvious tip, but many graduating seniors wait until the last minute to start applying in their career field. You may not have your bachelor’s degree employers desire yet, but you will in four months. It doesn’t hurt to put yourself out there + see who would be interested in you.

  2. Clean Up Your Social Media Accounts:  The last thing you want is an interested employer stumbling across your Instagram account and see that you were an active participant of the City Girls’ 25K Twerk Challenge two months ago. A good rule of thumb is to remove anything that you wouldn’t be comfortable sharing at an interview. Remove all inappropriate content as soon as possible.

  3. Showcase Your Work: Resumes will always be necessary, but let’s take it a step further. Before you graduate, create a portfolio that demonstrates your prior experience, skills and abilities related to your career field. Though you have a choice between a print or digital portfolio, my suggestion is to create both versions. That way, employers will always have access to your work, whether they’re connecting with you online or in-person.

  4. Start establishing connections: Network, network, network. Establishing connections can make a huge difference in whether or not you’ll obtain a full-time position in your career field. If you haven’t already done so, start attending networking events, connect with successful people on LinkedIn and introduce yourself, and develop a relationship with your professors. Make a conscious effort to get your name out there + watch how it helps you in the long run.

  5. Gain as much experience as you possibly can: You may think you’ve already racked up enough experience in your career field, but you can ALWAYS add more to your resume + portfolio! If you really want to stand out from the pool of college graduates, the best way is to gain as much experience as possible. Obtain another internship. Help out your major’s department with a project they’re working on. Ask your professors for any opportunities. Do whatever it takes in order to become the best candidate for any job in your career field.
